What's it like to work at Lucky 13?
"I've loved my time working at Lucky 13. The space is such a vibe, clean and so comfortable! As a stylist you can expect to work surrounded by extremely talented and supportive co-workers, and as a guest you can expect to always feel welcomed and leaving with a trendy custom hairstyle! Lucky 13's reputation keeps you busy, but with the structure of working independently; I really can't say enough good things!" --Bree Pettay

Lucky 13 has been a Clintonville staple for over 15 years, and we've built a reputation based on high, consistent quality and service. We're looking for an experienced, talented hairstylist to join our space. This is an excellent client-building opportunity, since our current stylists are all fully booked and we have a high salon name recognition.
We were a commission salon for many years, and during COVID transitioned to being a salon collective for independent stylists. Our specialty is helping clients to work with and make the most of their natural texture, and fully express their authentic selves.
Our ideal candidate would have:
--at LEAST five years of experience behind the chair.
--inclusion for clients of all identities. (We offer gender-neutral pricing, are a queer/trans-safe space, have a diverse range of clients, and affirm that Black Lives Matter)
--comfort and experience working with all types of hair textures and curl patterns.
--high professional standards, and the self-motivation to maintain them.
--the willingness to help with day-to-day tasks to keep the salon running smoothly. (ie keeping up with laundry, cleaning up after yourself immediately when you're done using a space)
--the desire to share a work space with other experienced, mature artists in a collaborative, no-drama environment.
We are probably NOT compatible with:
--someone who prefers a boisterous, high-energy work environment. (Nothing wrong with that, we're just pretty chill.)
--someone who is in the beginning stages of their career, or who needs structure and guidance in order to advance their skills. (We share tips and offer advice to each other all the time, but are not currently in a position to formally mentor or educate someone.)
